Four special animals, Rooster, Owl, Horse and Cat, as well as fantastic creatures inspired by them (like Fire-birds, Unicorns, Pegasus, Egyptian Bastet and others) appear in many legends and folk tales all around the world. In our program, children will look at images of these animals and hear stories about them from different cultural traditions. Children will have a choice of assignments such as creating story illustrations, or designing their coat of arms, masks and symbols using pastels, pencils, watercolors and construction paper. These art-works may be submitted to the Annual Multicultural Youth Art Exhibition.

Can artistic talent be spotted at a very young age? Does the world benefit from fresh perspectives and spontaneity of artistic expression? Because we believe that the answer is a resounding yes!, our non-profit organization has dedicated itself to displaying and preserving the creations of even our youngest artists.
The exhibition presents works of art created by current and former students of the Little Owl School of Arts in Eugene.
Our featured artists, Anna Laptova, Lizka Vaintrob, and Phillip Bindeman, will graduate from high school this spring. All three have been involved in the visual arts since the age of three or four. Their works have won numerous awards at local art competitions. The works on view provide an opportunity to trace the development of their individual styles and interests.

The theme of the 10TH Annual NewArt Northwest Kids art exhibit, "The Language of Art," explores how visual images and the written word intersect to create meaning.
Out of 255 submissions, the museum selected about 50 for the exhibit. Eleven works by students of the Little Owl School of Art were chosen to be displayed. Many of the artists were inspired by literary texts, including “The Tale of Tsar Saltan,” a fairy tale in verse by Russian poet Alexander Pushkin; “The Little Mermaid,” a poem by British poet Denis Martindale; a poem by British writer Robert Louis Stevenson; a poem about a palm tree by Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore; and a Russian fairy tale about Vasilisa the Wise. Other subjects include the artist's brother, the artist's reflection in the mirror, the Statue of Liberty, a superhero dog, a lion, the mysterious infinity sign, and more.

April 2–June 5, 2016. Eugene Public Library, 100 W 10th Ave, Eugene, OR
This show exhibited artwork created in 2015–16 by students of the Little Owl School (ages 4-10). Children read and discussed selected stories, including Russian folk tales and Alice in Wonderland, and then made sketches, creating compositions about the scenes or characters which interested them the most. After studying different techniques during their art-classes, students selected a medium of their choice, i.e. poster-paints, watercolors, pastels or oils, or mixed-media, for the final version of each composition.

Four current pupils and a former pupil of the Little Owl School of Art took part in the annual art exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on the University of Oregon campus. Our students
were among the forty four participants selected from hundreds of applicants from the city of Eugene and beyond.
This theme, “The Road Not Taken,” explored students’ visual depictions and definitions of their lives, travel, or hopes for the future. Students were encouraged to read Robert Frost’s poem The Road
Not Taken and to consider the ideas conveyed to them through the poet’s words.

This exhibition featured original artwork by students of the Little Owl School of Arts (ages 5-10) inspired by the early 19th century novel in verse Eugene Onegin, by the preeminent Russian writer Alexander Pushkin. The novel deals with the timeless issues of love, death, boredom and regret.
This exhibition was created in conjunction with a bilingual play based on Eugene Onegin, produced by the University of Oregon's REEES department (REEES Past Events). Many of the young artists participated in the play.
